The MLA (Modern Language Association) format is one of the main writing styles used in academic and professional writing. These are some rules for you to “write my essay”. When writing a research or MLA-style scientific papers, keep in mind and follow them.

Generic MLA Format

1. Align 2.5 cm.

Top, bottom, left, and right margins are 2.5 cm wide.

  • For most editors, you can change the margins by going to “Page Layout” located below the “File” menu. In the “Margins” dialog box, you can change the margin to an appropriate size.

2. Create double spacing lines.

From the first page onwards, your entire article must be double aligned. Note that there must not be extra spaces at the end of each paragraph.

  • To change the spacing between lines, go to the “Page Layout” located below the “File” menu. In the “Line Spacing” dialog box, select the distance as “2.0”.

3. Use 12.

The standard font and font size for MLA style articles is 12-point Times New Roman.

  • If you want to use a different font instead of Times New Roman, choose a font that’s simple, easy to read, and not too big.

4. Create a Header and Footer.

The text running at the top of the page will appear on every page in the same position. It should include your name and the page number and should be in the top right corner of the page. This is the way you can use to create header and footer when you “write my essay”.

  • Go to the “Header and Footer” toolbar in the editor, usually below the “View” menu. Type your name and click the page number icon in the options box to automatically fill the current page number for the corresponding page.

First Page Format

1. Type the heading in the top left corner.

The title must have all the information on the cover. Enter your full name, instructor name, course name, and date filed in the top left corner.

  • Enter your full name in the first line.
  • On the next line, type the title and instructor name.
  • On the third line, type the name of the class and course.
  • Type the submission date into the last line in the format Day, Month, Year.

2. Center the title.

In the line after the dateline, you must type the title of the post. This title must be centered. When I write my essay, I always notice some following information:

  • Do not enlarge, italicize, underline, or bold the title.
  • The page title must be informative and creative.
  • If there is a subtitle, type it on the same line as the main title and separate it with the main title with a colon.
  • The first letter of all important words must be capitalized. Do not capitalize on phrases like “the”, “one”, or “and”, if they are not the first word of the main or subheadings.

3. Write the body of the article.

Right after the headline, left-align the text and begin writing the opening paragraph for the article.

Body

1. Back to the first line of each paragraph.

The first line of each paragraph must be backward to 1.25 cm.

  • You can press the “Tab” key on the keyboard to indent the line.
  • There is no need to separate paragraphs with blank lines. The back-in line itself is sufficient to mark the beginning of a new paragraph.

2. Separate the article into smaller headings, if appropriate.

If your article is long, the instructor may ask you to separate the body of the article into different headings.

  • The advice for MLA style headings is to number each section with an Arabic number and a dot. After the dot is the space and then is the title.
  • The first letter of every word in the title of the article must be capitalized.
  • The title of the item usually must be centered and lie on one line.

3. Write the number if the article has pictures or tables.

When your MLA essay has pictures or tables, align figures and numbers, label them, or cite the source of information.

  • Use “Picture 1”, “Picture 2”, etc. for the illustrations. Use “Table 1”, “Table 2”, etc. for tables.
  • Quickly label data with descriptive words like “animation” or “statistics”.
  • Provide the author’s name, where the data was published, date published, and the page number.
  • All information must be encapsulated in a single line below the image.

In-Text Citation

1. Use quotes in parentheses for all borrowed material.

In-text citation is a hard part when I write my essay. Because different referencing style has different citation style so you need to notice to make a correct MLA citation.

Whenever you quote directly, interpret, or summarize the article, you must cite the source of the material within parentheses after the presentation.

  • If yes, include the author and page number of citations.
  • If the document comes from an online source and doesn’t have a page number, you just need to include the author’s name.
  • If there is no author name, quote an abbreviation of the source document title.
  • Note that if you’ve introduced the author before, you don’t need to include the author in parentheses.

2. Format quotes in-text.

Most citations are in-text, meaning that no special formatting is required and they can be processed like regular text.

Always include quotes in sentences. Never write in the style of “hovering quotes”, a type of quote that is not in any sentence and has no lead.

Behind the quotes in parentheses must have commas and periods. The parentheses must be outside the quotation marks.

References Page

1. Center the heading “References”.

Reference page is also an important part I need to notice when I write my essay

Do not italicize, bold, or underline this heading.

  • The “References” page must list all documents that you have quoted directly in the body of the article.
  • All articles in MLA format must have a “References” page.

2. Citations are arranged in alphabetical order.

All citations must be listed in alphabetical order by the author’s name.

  • If the author is unknown, sort the citation by alphabetical order of the first word of the article or book title.

3. Citing the book.

The basic format for citing books includes author’s name, title, publication information, and publication medium.

  • Write the author’s name in the format “Last name, First name”. Following is the dot.
  • Italicize the title and capitalize the first letter of each word. Following is the dot.
  • Write the name of the city of the publishing house behind the colon, followed by the publisher’s name. It is followed by a comma and the year of publication. Finish with a dot.
  • Finally, write the media, “Print” or “eBook”. Finish with a dot.

4. Quote magazine article.

A regular journal article must include the author’s name, the title of the article, the journal-title, publication information, and the means of publication.

  • Write the author’s name in the format Last name, First name. Behind is the dot.
  • Put the article title in quotation marks and then the period. The first letter of each word must be capitalized.
  • Italicize journal-title and then dot. The first letter of each word must be capitalized.
  • Enter the issue number, followed by the year of publication within parentheses. Put a colon after the publication year and then the page number. Following is the dot.
  • The last is the means of publishing and the final dot.
